Muammer Sun: Kurtuluş (Liberation) Suit

On October 30, 2015, Muammer Sun's Liberation Suite was performed at the CSO Concert Hall.

The music under the title ‘Kurtuluş’ was composed for the TV series ‘Kurtuluş’ prepared by TRT.

Written by Turgut Özakman and directed by Ziya Oztan with a valuable set team and many valuable artists, this series was an epic reflection of the national epic created by the Turkish nation under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal in our War of Independence.

The composer tried to keep the great national epic alive with music. In this concert, selected pieces of music from the Republic and Independence series are presented. The titles of the pieces generally reflect the place of the music in the film. In addition to these, many pieces of music such as background music and transition music were composed. Each piece is used in sections or in its entirety in certain scenes of the film. It was also taken into consideration that some of the music would be performed in concerts and released as CDs and cassettes in terms of composition time. The music for the film was recorded under the direction of Gürer Aykal with the contributions of the State Polyphonic Choir of the Ministry of Culture and the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. The recordings were made at the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall by sound engineer Engin Aksan and Atilla Şentin.
